Beyond helpful. I did the Classic Road to Hana. While admittedly there were a couple places where the service was a problem, it was only for a few moments. All in all I was impressed with how the app knew exactly where I was and helped me navigate the right turns. I got out pretty early which meant a few of the first places weren't open yet. But it far outweighed the heavy crowds and I just hit a few of them in the way back instead. It was full of great music and fun history.

I bought the tour for Road to Hana and downloaded it the night before. It only worked when we had data (which was rarely) even though it's supposed to trigger based on gps alone. I tried restarting the app several times but it didn't help. Also, the music that was supposed to play between stops didn't work. I have an android and I wonder if iPhone users have had a better experience since the app has so many good reviews. Very disappointed due to the price, might be worth it if it worked.

This app is fantastic. I cannot recommend it more - if you are planning on driving the road to Hana, don't do it without this app! It leads you to some of the less crowded spots, and guides you which locations are worth skipping to save time for the truly magical sights. And, with the downloadable map, you dont have to worry about syncing locations - the app does it all for you and automatically stops/starts playback based on your GPS location!
