How to Play:Chess Basics for Beginners
New to chess? This app makes learning easy! Chess is a 2-player strategy board game on an 8x8 grid of 64 black-and-white squares. Players take turns moving 16 unique pieces each (1 king, 1 queen, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops, 8 pawns). Here’s how each piece moves:
-King: Moves 1 square in any direction (key to protect—losing it means checkmate!).
-Queen: Moves any number of squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally (most powerful piece).
-Rooks: Move any number of squares horizontally or vertically (great for controlling lines).
-Knights: Jump in an L-shape (2 squares in one direction + 1 square perpendicular—only piece that leaps over others).
-Bishops: Move any number of squares diagonally (stay on their starting color).
-Pawns: Move 1 square forward (2 squares on their first move); capture diagonally forward. Reach the opponent’s back rank? Promote it to a queen/rook/knight/bishop!
-Goal: Achieve checkmate—trap the opponent’s king so it can’t escape capture. The app’s hints to learn chess and tips will guide you as you practice!

I like that there is a method of helping at the lower levels. Very helpful. Nice graphics. Very very good !! Some other chess apps take advantage at the very start like level one beginner. They use the ability of the computer to counter each and every move. I would get to the point where I am just a few moves away from checkmate. And the app f's the damn board map and jumps and tricks and tries to slam me down. But this app does the right way. Very helpful. I Recommend it.

Once playing, the chess game itself is decent and fairly immersive. But the ads ... BEYOND annoying. Sometimes lasts 2-3 min at a time, not skippable. Meanwhile, the tinyyyy X button in the corner takes 1-2 tries before successfully closing the ad (each time you don't succeed, it takes you to the play store). Didn't even have this app for 24 hours before I had to call it quits. Good grief.

TERRIBLE! I've beat the game several times, and once it sees you are winning it will either freeze up or start showing huge ads to interfere with your game. EXTREMELY disruptive. I'll have to keep trying to find a good, on the up and up chess game to play.
